Tips to disinfect your bathroom

Cleaning a bathroom is probably the last item on your to-do list as it’s a chore none of us like to do. However, since the bathroom is a place full of soap scum, germs, hair-clogged drains, and mildew, it becomes necessary to deep clean it from time to time. While cleaning a dirty bathroom, it is important to stay clear of harmful chemicals that can irritate your skin and cause trouble around the home. Remember to be diligent and use eco-friendly products to keep your bathrooms clean and family members safe at all times.

Get Cleaning Tools Ready

If you’re planning a cleaning session, you must start with gathering the necessary cleaning equipment. These include rubber gloves, cotton cloths, sponges, lint free towels, soft toothbrush or bathroom scrubber, vinegar, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and laundry detergent amongst others.

Get Started with The Floors

Use ½ cup baking soda in a bucket of warm water and mop the floor like you normally would. You can also add some lemons to make the floors fragrant post cleaning. As precautionary measures, never keep wet mats lying on the floors in the bathroom. Make sure you dry them nicely. Another way to avoid too much scum is to use mild eco-friendly soap while bathing as it will prevent soap scum build-up in the bathroom.

Cleaning the Sink

Mix water, baking soda and vinegar to make your own spray cleaner for the sink. You can also polish the fixtures by putting a mixture of equal amounts of vinegar and baking soda and then rinse it clean. A soft toothbrush also helps to remove all the dirt.

Down the Drain

A common cause of clogged bathrooms is a drain full of hair. Rather than using the drain cleaning solutions from the market that may be full of poisonous solutions, you can create your own with vinegar and baking soda and pour it down. After 30 minutes, put boiling water down the drain to clean it thoroughly.

Clean Porcelain

Clean your toilets at least once a week to avoid germs and keep it sparkling. Mix half cup vinegar with a spoon of baking soda and let it settle in the toilet bowl for 30 minutes. Then scrub clean for a shining and hygienic toilet.

Remember that keeping your bathroom clean is vital to the safety and health of your loved ones. If you can’t manage a deep cleaning session on your own, you can also avail affordable home cleaning solutions to help you maintain a spic and span bathroom.
